Bullied Gay Teen Faces Expulsion for Firing Stun Gun at School -
Darnell “Dynasty” Young is a gay teen who has been teased and bullied at Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis for months. When his mother reported the incidents to school officials, the school seemed to blame Darnell for being
too gay or too noticeable.The Indy Star reports:
When the 17-year-old and his mother, Chelisa Grimes, told school officials, she said, teachers and administrators seemed to blame Young for being openly gay.
His behavior and the way he dressed called attention to himself, they said.
He accessorized his outfits with his mother’s purses and jewelry. And he loved to dance.
His dance routine to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” won second place at Tech’s talent show in December.
“They said that the problem was he was too flamboyant, with his bags and his purses and his rings,” Grimes said.
With no support from the teachers or the school, Darnell’s mother took matters in her own hands - she gave her son a stun gun to protect himself.
A few weeks later, six bullies surrounded Darnell at school. Feeling threatened, Darnell pulled out the stun gun and shot it in the air. The bullies backed off, but Darnell was escorted out his class by the school police officers.
Now, he could be expelled from school.
If our kids have to go to extremes to feel safe at school, then the schools are failing them.
I grew up in Indianapolis, actually 5 mins from this high school and this breaks my heart. I cant say that as if I was a parent I wouldnt have done the same thing. Yeah, sure, pull him out of school. But send him where? People dont got money for private school out here. I know folks will argue that he shouldnt have had a weapon at school. I would argue that he should be able to carry a purse at school without folks threatening his well being and the school saying he needs to stop being so flamboyant. What the hell does that even mean? Like I can understand if he was walking around with a damn disco ball and and a piano like Liberace. That might be a bit of a distraction. But even then, folks dont need to be trying to kick his ass cause he could put on a mean show between 3rd and 4th period.
Christopher Meloni may be the only reason to bring me back to watch season 5 of True Blood.

Trans Activist Agnes Torres Murdered In Puebla
Trans activist and respected counselor Agnes Torres Hernández was found dead this past Saturday near the town of Atlixco, Puebla. Reports indicate she was tortured before being killed.
Friends and supporters gathered to mourn and pay tribute to Agnes this evening in Puebla, the state’s capital city. Earlier today, the hashtag #AgnesTorres was a trending topic on Twitter, with thousands posting messages of support for Agnes, her family, and the LGBT community.
Former colleagues of Agnes Torres are demanding a thorough investigation and calling for a special department within Mexico’s National Human Rights Commission dedicated to cases of hate crimes against lesbians, gays, and transsexuals.
